Information for Current Silviculture Laboratory members

Computer Resources:

The Silviculture Laboratory provides a number of computers for use by lab members. The majority of these computers are desktop computers, with a few notebook computers.

DeskTop Computers:

A number of desktop computers are provided for the use of Silviculture Laboratory members (The computers are currently being upgraded). Our new standard is Pentium III class machines running Windows 2000 (the new computers arriving Fall 2000 are an example).

The new computers are being provided with the following software:

• Windows XP Professional
• Microsoft Office XP Professional
• Internet Explorer, SSH Secure Shell/SSH Secure File Transfer 3.2.9
• McAfee AntiVirus, WinZip, FileSync, FileDiff
• ArcView 3.3
• LMS 2.0
• SPSS

Accounts:

The desktop computers require an CFRNetID account for access. See the CFRIT Getting and Maintaining a CFRNetID for information on getting CFR access.

Notebook Computers:

There are also several notebook computers owned by the Silviculture Laboratory. They generally float around to the people that currently need the portability. Contact Jim McCarter to coordinate use of one of the lab notebook computers.
